Horses In Training

Each year we usually have between 12 and 15 horses in training. Most of these are with  Clive Cox, Andrew Balding, Archie Watson or Patrick Chamings.

The horses are owned by Mildmay Racing or one of the associated partnerships. Information on the horses is shared between the syndicates by regular emails and everyone is encouraged to support all the horses. We provide two owners badges per 1/8th share but these are not always taken up so frequently there are spare owners badges available on a first come first served basis.

BELLE MEADE (IRE) 2014 Chestnut Filly by Roderic O´Connor ex Hazardous (Night Shift)

Owner: Dr Bridget Drew and Partners and Mr R A Farmiloe
Trainer: Andrew Balding
Breeder: E O’Gorman

Belle Meade is a four year old filly, purchased at the Tattersall’s December Sales for 100,000 guineas.

She ran four times for Richard Fahey, winning her maiden over 6F sufficiently impressively to be upgraded in class for her next three starts, subsequently coming 3rd the the Firth Of Clyde Stakes (Group 3). Notwithstanding her colour, she seems to have a lovely temperament borne out by her jockey who describes her as talented, sound and straightforward. We look forward to an exciting year with her starting with a £50k handicap at Ascot followed by Listed and Group races.

PERFECT ANGEL (GB) 2014 Brown Filly by Dark Angel ex The Hermitage (Kheleyf)
Owner: Mildmay Racing & D H Caslon
Trainer: Andrew Balding

Breeder: Yeomanstown Stud

A racy, athletic filly who can be sharp at times. She was purchased from the 2015 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 2 for only 17,000 Guineas. Perfect Angel is out of a stakes placed mare who is a half sister to four stakes and group placed horses including dual Group 1 placed, Crown Of light.

Angel has had a fantastic 2yr old season, coming a close second to Harry Angel in the Mill Reef Stakes (Group 2) and was third in Rockingham Stakes (Listed). at 3 she was second in the Fred Darling Stakes (Group 3). She will be covered in training by Oasis Dream. We hope to be able to win a Listed or a Group race before she comes out of training in July.

MACH ONE (GB) 2014 Bay Colt by Makfi ex Perfect Spirit (Invincible Spirit)

Owner: Dr Bridget Drew and Partners
Trainer: Archie Watson
Breeder: Mildmay Bloodstock Ltd.

Mach One is a lovely looking, big horse who was very highly thought of as a two year old but failed to meet our expectations. Gelding followed by a spell with Gary Witheford and a change of yard has brought about considerable improvement and he has now won or been placed in 6/7 of his last starts. While perhaps not the Group 1 horse that was originally envisaged or even a Group 3 winner like his 3/4 sister, Perfect Tribute, he should give his connections plenty of fun in handicaps this summer.

PERFECT CRACKER (GB) 2008 Chestnut gelding by Dubai Destination ex Perfect Story (Desert Story )

Owner: Mildmay Racing
Trainer:  Clive Cox
Breeder:  Mildmay Bloodstock Ltd.

He was a “cracking” foal who has grown into a very handsome horse. He is an nine time winner, placed twenty six times and has won over £68,000 in prize money. Cracker prefers the all- weather and runs well at Wolverhampton and on fast turf.

PERFECT QUEST (GB) 2013 Brown filly by Bushranger ex love Quest (Pursuit of Love)

 Owner: Hants & Herts
Trainer: Clive Cox
Breeder: Mrs J Walker

Quest is an attractive, short coupled filly purchased as a foal for the Tattersalls December Foal Sale. She is a half sister to the 100 rated, Stakes placed and six time winner Latenightrequest and the 91 rated, five time winner, La Zamora.

Perfect Quest has won 3 times over 1m2f in 2016 and has been placed five times. She will be covered in training this year and hopefully win a couple more before she retires in foal.

PERFECT LADY (GB) 2014 bay Filly by Excelebration ex Theladyinquestion (Dubawi)

Owner:  Mildmay Racing and D H Caslon
Trainer:  Clive Cox
Breeder: Cadagan Partnership

Slightly on the small side but from a small and very speedy family. Perfect Lady is out of a dual winning 89 rated (RPR 93) daughter of Whazzat, who was a 104 rated Royal Ascot Winner and also the dam of Group 2 winner, James Garfield and Stakes placed The Shrew. She was unraced (injured) at two and only had one run at three but that was sufficiently promising for us to hope that the wait has been worthwhile and she may be a  Black type filly this year.

PERFECT CLARITY (GB) 2015 Bay Filly by Nathaniel ex Clarietta

Owner: Dr Bridget Drew & Partners and David J Keast
Trainer: Clive Cox
Breeder: Bluehills Racing Ltd

This is a really exciting filly who won her only start at two years going away. She will have an Oaks entry and start her three year old campaign by running in a Listed race ay Newbury.

PERFECT REFUGE (GB) 2015 Grey Filly by Champs Elysees ex Perfect Haven (Singspiel)

Owner: Hants and Herts
Trainer: Clive Cox
Breeder: Hants and Herts

Considering her breeding, it is not surprising that this attractive, homebred filly was considered too immature to run much before the end of her two year old year. She would have run at the back end but for a respiratory infection. She is ready to go now and should have one or two runs on the all-weather before running on turf. She is likely to start over a mile and be better over further.

SUPEREGO (GB) 2015 Chestnut Filly by Sepoy ex Ego (Green Desert)

Owner: Mildmay Racing and Mr R A Farmiloe
Trainer: Clive Cox
Breeder: Highclere Stud

This good looking, athletic and highly thought of filly was purchased as a yearling for £50,000 Guineas. Her Dam was Listed placed herself and already the dam of two Black type performers. She was injured (cut pastern) soon after purchase but has now fully recovered and ready to run.

Unnamed (GB) 2015 Bay Filly by Equiano ex Bassinet (Stravinsky)

Owner: Dr Bridget Drew
Trainer: Andrew Balding
Breeder: Mildmay Bloodstock

Out of a 12F mare she was never going to be an early two year old but she was backed and turned away to mature. She is now back in training and looks like she will be out early this year.

DUTCH TREAT (GB) 2016 Chestnut Filly by Dutch Art ex Syann (Daylami)

Owner: Mildmay Racing and Mr D H Caslon
Trainer: Andrew Balding
Breeder: Crimbourne Stud

This  attractive, good walking and well grown filly was purchased as a foal for 60k Guineas and looks as if she will be a mid-season two year old.

NATE THE GREAT (GB) 2016 bay colt by Nathanie ex Theladyinquestion (Dubawi)

Owner: Mildmay Racing and Mr D H Caslon
Trainer: Archie Watson
Breeder: Mildmay Bloodstock and Mr D H Caslon

This athletic, easy moving and very forward thinking colt would appear to take after his dam in that he could easily be an early to mid-season two year old. let us hope that he is sufficiently early to emulate his grandmother and win the Chesham at Royal ascot.

PERFECT CHARM (GB) 2016 Bay Filly by Charm Spirit ex Indignant (Gold Away)

Owner: Dr Bridget Drew & partners and Mr D H Caslon
Trainer: TBC
Breeder: Theakston Stud

This  is an exceptional well-bred daughter of the Stakes winning and Group 3 placed, Indignant, herself out of the French Champion, Moiava. She is sharp and athletic and should be a mid-season two year old.

Unnamed (GB) 2016 Chestnut Filly by Showcasing ex Perfect Star (Act One)

Owner: Dr Bridget Drew and Partners
Trainer: Clive Cox
Breeder: Mildmay Bloodstock

A daughter of one of our best mares, Perfect Star, this gorgeous filly looks as if she will be an early to mid-season two year old. Hopefully, she will be sufficiently early and good enough to follow her half-sister, Kilmah to Royal Ascot.

Unnamed (GB) 2016 Chestnut Filly by Exceed and Excel ex Leopard Hunt (Diesis)

Owner: Mildmay Racing and Mr D H Caslon
Trainer: Clive cox
Breeder: Round Hill Stud

This  is another exciting filly likely to be an early to mid-season two year old. She is very athletic and couples this with a great temperament.
